The Patriarchal Cathedral St. Alexander Nevski is a symbol of Sofia and one of its most famous sights.
It is located in the center of the capital, on the square with the same name, southeast of the ancient church St. Sofia.
Near the temple are located the National Assembly, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Synodic Palace, the Unknown Soldier Monument, the National Gallery for Foreign Art and the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.
